- The inlet system, column and detector
- Troubleshooting the chromatogram is investigated through an evaluation of;
* Inlet system optimisation – split/splitless, temperature, deactivation etc.
* Detector optimisation
* Changes to the chromatographic baseline – drifting, noisy etc.
* Changes to chromatographic peak shape – broadening, splitting etc
