Stable Bond

Zorbax StableBond (SB) reversed-phase columns are manufactured using unique monofunctional silanes with bulky diisobutyl (with C18) or diisopropyl (with C8, C3, Phenyl, propyl CN) side chain groups. These groups sterically protect the key siloxane bond from hydrolytic attack at low pH.

Zorbax Eclipse XDB reversed-phase columns are manufactured using unique monofunctional silanes and a proprietary double end-capping process. The Eclipse XDB silica Sol is more stable at mid and high pH than conventional silica, resulting in highly reproducible columns with long lifetimes.

Bonus-RP

Zorbax Bonus-RP reversed-phase columns have a polar amide group embedded in a long alkyl chain. This novel bonding reduces interactions between basic compounds and the silica support, improving peak shape for the most difficult basic compounds.

Peak shape and column lifetime are further improved by a triple end-capping process. In addition , di-isopropyl side groups provide steric hindrance against acid hydrolysis for god lifetime at low pH.  Bonus-RP provides an alternative selectivity to c18 and C8 alkyl bonded phases.

Zorbax Extend

ZORBAX Extend-C18 incorporates a patented bidentate organosilane combined with double endcapping, protecting its ultra-pure (Type B) silica support from dissolution at high pH. Extend-C18 is specially designed for stable use with high pH mobile phases and is particularly well-suited for separating highly basic compounds as free bases. In addition, the structure of the unique bidentate-C18 bonded stationary phase is also useful for separations at low and intermediate pH, with excellent stability and chromatographic separation properties.

Extend-C18 packing is made by first chemically bonding a dense monolayer of propylene-bridged bidentate-C18 silane stationary phase to a specially prepared, ultra-high purity (>99.995% SiO 2 ) ZORBAX Rx-SIL porous silica microsphere support.

Zorbax Poroshell

A solid silica core with a superficially porous surface of smaller silica sol particles derivatized with bonded phase

• The Poroshell 300SB-C18 particle is a revolutionary particle that produces very fast, high resolution, RP-HPLC separation of proteins, DNA and other macromolecules. Many separations are fast, but Poroshell is both fast and exhibits high resolution.
• Poroshell particles can be derivatized with a variety of bonded phases. The first available product is Poroshell 300SB-C18.
• Poroshell works well for high resolution of macromolecules because of the rapid kinetics on and off the thin porous shell bonded phase. Kinetics for macromolecules on completely porous particles, such as 3.5 micron particles, are slower due to the increased path the macromolecule must travel. Poroshell represents new technology and we are the only supplier of this unique product.

Agilent Technologies complement other manufactured columns, such as the Merck manufactured Lichrospher, Lichrosorb, Superspher and Purospher columns.  All are available in the popular C18, C8, Amino, Diol and Cyano formats. C18 and C8 are alternatively available with end-capping, as is the Select B product favoured for Pharmaceutical applications. Selected configurations of Asahipak, Chiradex, Ultron, Hypersil, and Synchropak columns are also available
